is Transnistria considered as a fully independent country.

1 Jawaban

  • 1.If you ask the United Nations, they’ll say that Transnistria is an unrecognized, breakaway republic that is officially part of Moldova. If you ask Transistrians, they’ll tell you that it was Moldova which broke away from the Soviet Union and that Transnistria never agreed to this separation, so Moldova separated from Transnistria, not the other way around.

2.Officially, by whatever metrics are used, Transnistria IS an independent country. They have their own currency (money), parliament, president, tax authority, stamps, car license plates, border guards, flag, and telephone exchange. But it is an unrecognized independence, meaning there are geopolitical reasons why most (but not all) countries do not officially treat Transnistria as a peer.

3.There are lots of countries stuck in this kind of “independent but unrecognized” limbo, including the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, South Ossetia, Somaliland, Palestine, and Northern Cyprus. None of them have a mechanism by which the (former) ruling authority will relinquish them to have full independence, so they remain a “frozen conflict”.
